In collaboration with the Blunk Estate, Columbus Museum of Art is pleased to announce a Blunk Shop X CMA pop-up, available throughout the run of Wild Earth: JB Blunk and Toshiko Takaezu in the CMA Museum Store. This special pop-up shop features a curated selection of artisan-made reproductions of Blunk's original works, including handmade jewelry, cutting boards, and ceramic cups, bringing his legacy into everyday life.
A pioneering artist and sculptor, JB Blunk (1926-2002) is best known for his organic, hand-carved wood sculptures and functional objects that seamlessly merge art and daily living. His practice erased the boundaries between craft and design–whether through the jewelry he made for loved ones or the ceramic and wood tableware used in the Blunk House, a hand-built home constructed entirely from salvaged materials. Described by Architectural Digest as an "intimate, hand-built abode" with an "abundance of curvaceous redwood forms," the Blunk House stands as a testament to his philosophy of living with art.
By collaborating with contemporary designers and makers, the Blunk Shop continues this tradition, offering thoughtfully crafted pieces that honor his vision and invite his work into new homes.
Wild Earth: JB Blunk and Toshiko Takaezu is on view until August 3, 2025.
Blunk Shop X CMA items are available exclusively for in-store purchase.
